AIM Awards 2017 Nominees Announced

The nominees for this years AIM Awards were announced last night at the launch event at House of Vans with a live performance from London rap crew 67 who have been nominated for Independent Breakthrough of the Year.  Leading the nominees this year with three nominations each, including Independent Track of the Year is Jane Weaver, Stormzy and Dave. Sampha, Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, Jlin and Little Simz and also enjoy multiple nominations, with two nominations each.

Every year the AIM Awards shines a spotlight on the music industry’s independent sector, saluting important figures and honouring emerging talent well ahead of other industry awards. It also celebrates the exciting diversity and growing strength of the industry’s independent sector.

Over the past seven years, new, grassroots talent has rubbed shoulders with internationally-established artists, making the AIM Awards the most distinct and wide-ranging awards event in the UK. Showcasing this eclectic mix of independent artists, last year’s big winners included Stormzy (Innovator Award), Christine And The Queens (Independent Breakthrough Of The Year) and Roísín Murphy (Outstanding Contribution To Music).

AIM are pleased to announce that their charity partner for this year’s awards is Youth Music, the leading national charity providing music-making opportunities every year for over 75,000 children experiencing challenging circumstances. Those facing difficulties – including poverty, mental health issues and family problems – are often the ones who get the most out of music-making.  For many, participation in one of Youth Music’s 350 projects is life-transforming. There will be a collection on the evening of the awards.
