The renowned international conference and festival SXSW is back for 2019 and AIM is taking part in a huge range of different events and showcases this year. Check out a brief run-down of what AIM’s involved with this year below, and look out for more info coming soon on what our members and community will be organising at the festival too.
The British Music Embassy
The British Music Embassy, with its own dedicated music venue at Latitude 30 (San Jacinto Blvd, just of 6th St), is the hub of all British music activity at SXSW. Supported by AIM, BBC Music, BPI, DIT, PPL and PRS for Music, the showcases will highlight the best up and coming British musical talent.
Each night, a different showcase presenter will take over the embassy with exciting talent. Check out the full line-up here.
We’re delighted to be partnering with BBC Radio 6 Music and the legendary Steve Lamacq once again for our SXSW 2019 BME showcase, with a massively diverse and talented line-up including: Penelope Isles, The Pearl Hearts, Squid, Flohio, Novelist and The Blinders.
Jazz Re:Freshed Outernational
Innovative music curator and AIM Member Jazz Re:freshed are teaming up with showcase producer British Underground to bring UK jazz to SXSW with the 2019 showcase featuring a world-class line up of the emerging UK artists currently shaping our understanding of the contemporary jazz scene. This year’s SXSW showcase will take place from 8pm at downtown venue Main II on 13 March and will feature Nerija, Joe Armon Jones, Sarah Tandy, Yussef Dayes and Ezra Collective.
We’re delighted to be partnering on the showcase with PPL and PRS for Music. Four of the artists playing have also been funded by the PRS Foundation‘s International Showcase Fund.
