AIM PRESENTS:

CRACKING THE US

IN ASSOCIATION WITH UK TRADE AND INVESTMENT

6pm - 10pm, 1st December 2010
PRS for Music Boardroom, London

The US music market is the biggest in the world, offering a wealth of opportunities to UK independent labels and their artists.  From Vampire Weekend topping the Billboard Chart, to Adele’s Grammy Award success, to the vast amount of new British independent acts being synched to hit US TV shows, there has never been a better time for UK indies to do business across the Pond.  AIM’s next master class event will bring together international trailblazers to explain how to get a foothold in this important market.

PLEASE NOTE - AIM MEMBERS MUST BE LOGGED IN TO BOOK THIS EVENT AT THE MEMBER RATE OF £15+VAT.

Taking place at the PRS for Music Boardroom on 1st December 2010, the event, which is supported by UK Trade and Investment, will be divided into 3 sections:

1.     International Funding

Philippa McEvoy from UK Trade & Investment and PRS for Music Foundation’s Laura Whitticase demystify international funding, outlining the wide range of support available to help you do business internationally.

2. Panel Discussion: “The Land of Opportunity”

How does the current US music market look, where is it going and what are the opportunities for UK independent labels?  Find out what does and doesn’t work in the US, the current trends and how the market differs from the UK.  UK labels and managers who have enjoyed US success join experts in digital and synchronisation licensing from the States.  Panellists include:

Pat Fulgoni – Chocolate Fireguard
Eric Sheinkop – Music Dealers
Gary McLarnan - Sparklestreet
Erik Gilbert - IODA
Steve Beatty - Plastichead Distribution
Chair – Phil Patterson – UK Trade & Investment

 3. Panel Discussion: “Touring and Showcasing”

Booking agents, showcase organisers and experienced labels discuss the opportunities for acts to showcase and tour in the US, and the things labels must consider to make a success of live activity across the pond.  Panellists include:

Caroline Reason – CAA
Una Johnston - SXSW
Caius Pawson
- Young Turks / XL Recordings
Chair – Crispin Parry – British Underground
