LIVE AT LEEDS THE UNCONFERENCE PRESENTS THE AIM SOCIAL & ACCESS TO MUSIC FUNDING EVENT
9th April 2014, The Brudenell Social Club, Leeds
The Association of Independent Music (AIM) is excited to announce details of the next ‘AIM Social’, the regular gathering for the independent music community. This time The Social moves out of its regular haunt in London, to pay a visit to the vibrant music scene in Leeds on 9th April 2014 as part of Live at Leeds The Unconference’s launch party.
To celebrate the wealth of label talent in the area, Live at Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds Inspired are teaming up with AIM for an evening bringing together local labels and self-releasing artists, taking place at legendary Leeds venue The Brudenell Social Club.
The evening will begin at 6pm with a panel on music business funding, looking at how local labels and artists can tap into funding including PRS for Music Foundation’s Momentum Music Fund and British Music Abroad Scheme, Arts Council England funds and other industry focused grants and loans. Speakers will include: Chris Bye (Arts Council England), Laura Whitticase (PRS for Music Foundation) and Claire NcNeil (AIM), with Live At Leeds’ own Whiskas chairing the session.
The AIM Social/Live at Leeds The UnConference Launch will then run from 7.30pm, featuring live performances from The Horn The Hunt and Hide and Seek’s Post War Glamour Girls, plus the ever-popular Live at Leeds football draw. The evening will also include a DJ set from The Leaf Label’s Tony Morley, giving a unique insight into the music that inspires the iconic Leeds label.
The AIM Social gives attendees the chance to network with other music businesses in the area, as well as meet the AIM team and find out more about the support they provide to independent labels large and small. AIM Socials are open to independent labels, self-releasing artists and the wider music industry. Whether you’re running a label, working in digital music, or managing a self-releasing band or artist – come along!
Places are free, but highly limited. Register quickly before they’re all gone!
A strict guestlist will be in operation on the night, so everyone wishing to attend should be sure to register via this page in advance.
