SXSW Conferences and Festivals offers the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies. Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW is the premier destination for discovery with 16,300+ music delegates and 2,100+ bands showcasing from 57 countries.
By day, conference registrants do business in the SXSW Trade Show in the Austin Convention Centre (10-13 Mar) and partake of a full agenda of informative, provocative panel discussions featuring hundreds of speakers of international stature. In 2012 SXSW Interactive attracted 24,500+ delegates and SXSW Film 16,400+ delegates thus becoming similarly important events for the international film and interactive sectors. The British music industry participates in SXSW Music to network, to raise the profile of the organisations they represent with influential people in the US and to use SXSW to publicise and market their work.

British Music at SXSW 2012
UK Music organisations including AIM and Government body UKTI work together as the British Music Partnership, to promote the British Music Industry internationally. We strive to promote both the individual and the industry as a whole across all genres of music.

At SXSW, the partnership works with regional government / music agencies like Belfast City Council, Creative Scotland, Welsh Music Foundation, Generator and Plugged in Yorkshire and private sector organisations such as Liverpool Sound City (representing the North West) to present a strong and unified representation of the UK music scene and the depth and breadth of the UK’s creativity, innovation and professionalism.

As usual we have a host of activities going on. Designed to add value to your attendance at SXSW, they include additional marketing and promotion of the British contingent, business networking opportunities, and showcases. Our activity at SXSW is described by the event organisers as the “gold standard” of national promotion.

With the wealth of talent visiting SXSW from the UK, we are in serious danger of running out of available time and space to showcase it.  This dilemma brought about the British Music Embassy initiative.  It hosts all the key UK music events and is based at Latitude 30 on San Jacinto Blvd, just of 6th St.  Latitude 30 effectively becomes a little piece of the UK, our Embassy and HQ for the 'live/showcase side of British Music in Austin', for the duration of the event and will be a site for promoting the British contingent.  With posters, flyers, brochures, party passes, the works, the British Music Embassy will be "flying the flag" for the UK - literally.
