Digital Support

Launched in 1999, AIM has been at the forefront of the digital music revolution from the very beginning.

We licenced the original Napster filesharing service in 2001, whilst the majors sued and ultimately had it shut down.  When iTunes launched in the UK in 2004, we negotiated with Apple to ensure indies got the same rate for download sales as the majors.

Digital is now an essential element of any music business - indeed many of our members no longer release physical products, relying solely on digital distribution of their releases. So here at AIM, we can offer a great deal of help with the digital side of your business.

Music Connected

Music Connected is our flagship digital event, where members can meet all the key players from the digital world - from mobile operators, to digital stores, to distributors, social networks, digital marketing companies and everything in between.  Taking place each Spring, this event offers great deal-making opportunities, unrivaled networking with the digital industry and the chance to learn about the latest developments in digital music from expert panel discussions and presentations.

AIM Digital Training Courses

AIM offers 1-day intensive courses called 'AIM Digital Training' for anyone looking to take their digital business to the next level.  These are signifcantly discounted for AIM members, and held regularly.

Merlin

AIM members can join Merlin - the non-profit organisation charged with representing independent music companies in enhancing the commercial exploitation of their copyrights on a global basis.  Merlin generates revenue for independent label members through deals and settlements with new digital services and existing services that have previously not had deals with the independent sector.

Online Resources and Information

AIM offers a wealth of online resources to help members develop their digital business.  From digital FAQs and help sheets to contacts directories for digital distributors, plus videos of panel discussions and presentations from previous Music Connected events.  Plus the AIM team has a wealth of knowledge on selling music digitally and are only to pleased to offer advice.  If members have questions regarding digital, they can also circulate them to other members with digital knowledge and experience via the Digital Email Ring.
