AIM Music And Media Networking Evening – Supported By Arts Council England

In Association With Diaspora and Juno Download

11th November 2009 @ Sound, Leicester Square, London

AIM’s Music and Media Networking Evening will be an unparalled opportunity for representatives from press, radio, TV and online to meet the leading lights of UK independent music.

Tickets are available now from the AIM website, here.

Representatives from over 200 independent labels will be given the chance to meet many key players from the UK media, all with the intention of fostering better relationships and giving the public better access to cutting-edge UK music.

Over 150 media representatives are expected to attend, with those already confirmed including:

• George Ergatoudis, Head of Music, BBC Radio 1 and 1 Xtra
• Will McGillivray, Music Programming Manager, MTV
• Malcolm Gerrie, Chief Executive, WhizzKid Entertainment
• Nicola Slade, Editor, Record of the Day
• Lily Tomala, Online Music Magazine Editor, The Independent
• Mark Sutherland, Global Editor, Billboard
• Jon Myer, Music Manager, BBC 6 Music
• Helienne Lindvall, Music Writer, The Guardian
• Jude Rogers, Freelance Music Writer, The Word Magazine, The Guardian, The Observer and The New Statesman

• Many others to be announced in coming weeks…

In addition to informal networking, the evening will provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in speed dating sessions, giving labels one-to-one time with key players from press, TV, radio and online media. The event kicks off with on-stage introductions from media attendees, allowing label attendees to identify the media representatives they would like to speak with during the evening.

Break Out Sessions: Dance & Urban Music & Media Networking

This event marks the second of three supported by The National Lottery through Arts Council England, a partnership aiming to improve access to AIM’s events programme for independent music companies in niche genres. Following on from specific urban and dance marketing master classes at AIM’s recent Marketing on a Shoestring night, this event will see two breakout business speed dating sessions, allowing dance and urban labels to meet media specific to their genre.

The dance music speed dating session, in partnership with Juno Download, will see 10 dance labels get the chance to meet dance media figures from radio, press, online and TV.

The urban music speed dating session will be held in association with Diaspora, and will see 10 urban labels meet key urban music media.
