16/12/2009 AIM Offers Internship in Association With Urban Development
Association of Independent Music is offering a 3 month Music Business Administration Internship commencing January 2010. The internship is offered via a scheme with URBAN DEVELOPMENT for any young person 18-25 living or studying in Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest or Greenwich.
Based at our office in Chiswick, West London, the internship will provide an excellent all round top-level overview of the music industry, specifically independent record labels and music festivals. Do be aware that we are not a record label, and we don’t work on the A&R or recording process - we are a not-for profit ‘behind the scenes’ support organisation who work to help small independent labels from every genre of music to run their businesses well. Our work is administrative and office based, within a music industry context. Please check out our website www.musicindie.com for more information about what services we offer our members. Also see www.aiforg.com for our festivals division Association of Independent Festivals.
In return for your voluntary work we will provide a quality work experience which will give you a great overview of the music industry, and the name of one of the industry’s best known organisations on your CV.
To be eligible you must work less than 16 hours per week.
You must be young person aged 18-25.
You must be able to give a commitment to 2 days per week for 12 weeks, 10am – 6pm plus occasional evening events by arrangement.
You should live or study in one of the following London boroughs: Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney, Waltham Forest or Greenwich.
Ideally we are looking for:
- an interest in the music industry
- enthusiasm and pro-active, problem solving approach to tasks
- excellent interpersonal skills
- can-do nature
- accurate typing, good English language skills and good computer skills (Word, Excel, Email and Internet)
- some prior office based experience
- ability to work diligently on a given task, and come up with creative solutions to problems encountered.
The internship will be on a voluntary basis, but travel and other out-of-pocket expenses will be covered.
