01/08/2006 AIM Mentoring Scheme Attracts Top Music Industry Professionals

AIM’s ‘Music Professionals’ Development Scheme’, funded by Arts Council England, has begun to take shape, with experienced music industry professionals lining up to provide mentoring to 30 AIM members.

The scheme aims to allow managers of smaller member labels the chance to develop their management skills and grow their businesses. There has been an overwhelming response both from senior music industry professionals and small AIM members keen to receive mentoring, demonstrating the need for such a scheme and the excellent learning and development opportunities presented.

To date, over 20 senior music industry professionals have been selected to provide mentoring, including Jeremy Lascelles (The Echo Label), Martin Goldschmidt (Cooking Vinyl), Jay Barbour (One Little Indian), Janine Irons (Dune Records), Simon Goffe (Sway), Keith Harris (Stevie Wonder), Bob Miller (Corrine Bailey Rae) and others. AIM has handpicked managers from growing member labels to receive high quality training from these mentors.

Over the coming months, mentees will meet with their mentors numerous times, and will also receive training sessions on international licensing, marketing strategy and financial management. A social event, due to take place in October, will provide everyone involved in the scheme with networking opportunities and the chance to share information.
