25/09/2006 AIM Signs Landmark Deal to Make Independent Music Available Through Legal Peer-to-Peer Network

Once again demonstrating a progressive approach to digital music, AIM is the first organisation to agree a groundbreaking collective licensing deal on behalf of independent labels with Germany’s arvato mobile, making independent music available across Europe and Japan through their fully licensed P2P network ‘gnab’.

Probably the most significant deal signed and announced at Popkomm, the agreement will see repertoire from AIM’s 900 + members being made available on an opt in basis, initially via digital download with deals for subscriptions and video downloads expected to follow soon.

The deal gives members the opportunity to work with one of Europe’s leading suppliers of music; the gnab system already powers the online stores for German music retailer JPC, PixBox, the download service of Spanish conglomerate Terra Telefonica and Germany’s in2movies.
