24/01/2007 AIM goes live with 'AIM Independent Sessions'
Launch night on Monday 19th February for AIM’s live music showcase ‘AIM Independent Sessions’ in association with eMusic, the world’s largest retailer of independent music. Hot on the heels of platinum artist José González, boutique independent Peacefrog join ‘quixotic' label PIAS/Wall Of Sound as co-hosts of the first night. More information will be sent out to AIM Members via the AIM Updates.
The inaugural event, which takes place at the industry-insiders' Cobden Club in West London, will see US Soul Funkster Amp Fiddler preview tracks from his second album ‘Afro Strut’ in an intimate showcase for dedicated fans. Other performers include Ivor Novello winning Iain Archer (ex Snow Patrol), Peacefrog’s hotly-tipped Findlay Brown and French Singer/Songwriter Klima.
DJ’s include Infadels, Mekon and Johnny Trunk with a ‘non-dj’ set by PIAS/WOS honcho Mark Jones; drinks are courtesy of Monkey Shoulder Whisky.
The guestlist-only event will be promoted through press and radio, including the next issue of The Independent’s popular “Independent Music” supplement, with 200 free tickets being made available to competition winners and through a special www.aimsessions.com web site going live shortly.
A limited industry guestlist will be available; press, radio, online reviewers, synch/marketing agencies and related media should email aimsessions@musicindie.com for tickets.
AIM INDEPENDENT SESSIONS was conceived by Mark Jones and has been developed as part of AIM’s ongoing commitment to assist its members through collective marketing. This strategy saw the launch of “Independent Music”, now a monthly supplement, in February 2006.
The debut “AIM INDEPENDENT SESSIONS” will be a stand-alone event initially, with scope to develop into a regular monthly fixture.
The event is being been possible with support from eMusic, with additional help from Monkey Shoulder Whisky and The Cobden Club.
PIAS/WOS MD Mark Jones said “The INDEPENDENT SESSIONS will give labels the chance to showcase new and major talent in a great dedicated music venue. The idea is for everyone from radio/print media to synch/marketing agencies and beyond to come, waffle and groove; with dedicated fans getting an intimate showcase as well.”
“AIM and eMusic share a common goal of supporting independent labels and their artists,” said David Pakman, President and CEO of eMusic. “We’re excited to hear the artists performing at “AIM INDEPENDENT SESSIONS”, make their music available to eMusic subscribers, and help expose them to an even broader audience.”
Commented Remi Harris, AIM’s Project Manager “We’re looking forward to a great event, with future sessions open to labels of all genres echoing the depth and breadth of the UK independent sector”
