AIM Links Indie Labels with Key Players in Media

AIM Music And Media Networking Evening, In Association With We7

24th September 2008 @ Sound, Leicester Square, London

AIM’s Music and Media Networking Evening will be an unparalled opportunity for representatives from press, radio, TV and New Media to meet the leading lights of UK independent music.

Representatives from over 200 independent labels will be given the chance to meet many key players from the UK media, all with the intention of fostering better relationships and giving the public better access to cutting-edge UK music.

Over 150 media representatives are expected to attend, with those already confirmed including:

• Luke White, Music Editor, MTV
• Paul Williams, Editor, Music Week
• Richard O’Connor, Creative Solutions Director, The Independent
• Paul Scaife, Managing Director, Record of the Day
• Gary Bales, Producer - Steve Lamacq, BBC 6 Music
• Mark Sutherland, Global Editor, Billboard
• Jon Myer, Music Manager, BBC 6music
• Lee Tyler, Editor, Blues and Soul Magazine

Plus representatives from The Guardian, Classic Rock and Metal Hammer magazines, Five Eight, BBC, BBC 1 Xtra, Jazz FM and many others.

In addition to informal networking, the evening will provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in speed dating sessions, giving labels one-to-one time with key players from press, TV, radio and online media. The event kicks off with on-stage introductions from media attendees, allowing label attendees to identify the media representatives they would like to speak with during the evening.

Said Remi Harris, AIM General Manager, "A recent survey of our membership highlighted access to media as a significant problem for independent labels large and small. The AIM Music and Media Networking Evening in association with We7 will tackle this problem, by providing independent record labels with the contacts they need to get their music on the airwaves, on TV and in the press.”

Said Steve Purdham, We7 CEO, "Fans want to consume the music they want, so it is critical that independent artists get the same level of access to new digital services. Online and On-demand streaming is increasingly important in breaking new music, and on We7 fans can listen to all the music they want for free and buy what they love - with the labels being paid. We7 love to talk to labels of all sizes on how to join us and have their music highlighted in our promotions and editorial.”

The event will be held from 6-10pm on 24th September 2008 at Sound: 1 Leicester Square, London.

This event is open to non-members, who can register to attend at
